Proper lighting does so much to the aesthetics and overall ambiance of your home. A well lit house looks clean, spacious, relaxing and extremely welcoming. It also gives more emphasis on your ornaments and interior design. So how can you achieve this look for your own home?
Having a well lit house does not necessarily mean a house dotted with fluorescent lamps and other artificial light sources in almost every corner. Numerous glass windows let the sunlight in. Everyone would certainly agree that natural light is much better than the artificial counterpart; it would also be an excellent way to save up on energy. To achieve a balance between illumination and privacy, use light curtains instead heavy draperies.
Light colored walls reflect more light and add more glow to the room. During the evening, you would not need to turn on as many lights if you have pure, radiant walls than if your walls were dark colored. The same goes for tiled floors. It is best to choose a light hue for your floor tiles because not only does it look better but you would also be ‘prompted’ easily that a major clean-up is in order.
The arrangement of your shelves and other furniture must also be put into consideration. Make sure your furniture is set in such a way that it do not block off the light from the lamps or from the windows.
